Today I thought I was going to get lots done. However, I woke up with a headache this morning and Tylenol hasn’t helped. It’s rainy and cold outside and after the cooking and cleaning were done for the day (ha, yeah right!) I have contemplated doing a few different things but can’t decide on one. Last night I dyed a couple 100% merino superwash sock yarn skeins and while I was planning to be modest with colors, that went out the door fast. It’s hard to stick to a plan when you’re watching all the beautiful colors transform as they meet and spread across the yarn. I went with one darker version and one light.
I’m plotting again for another dye session tonight but winding another (460 + 460… what is that? 920?) on the niddy noddy sounds tiring right now. Maybe later I’ll feel better. I will have an Etsy shop open once I get enough finished to stock it well!
I’ve been looking for a quilt along to participate in this year… just something to keep me motivated and force me into “me time”. Here are a few you can check out if you’re considering one for yourself, too!

Down the Rabbit Hole BOM by Sarah Fielke
I had signed up for the Sarah Fielke Down the Rabbit Hole BOM for this year, but after selling most of my fabric I really don’t have the stash to keep up. I’m not sure if I’ll stay with it and just collect the patterns or if I’ll wait and purchase the pattern next year. You can see the sketch below, pulled from her site and see why I fell in love!
There is still time to sign up if you’re interested, the first pattern doesn’t come out until January 31! Read all about it HERE. You can see her 2016 BOM info HERE. The price is about the same if you wait, but you miss out on the closed Facebook group and one-on-one help.
The Quilter’s Planner Weekly Block
Something I’ve been eyeing for about a year now is the Quilter’s Planner. (photo from their site)
For budget reasons I can’t get one right now (I’m actually sticking to the fabric budget this year!) but I have loved seeing everyone’s weekly block. If you snatch one up now, you won’t be far behind! I’m not sure on all the details of this quilt along, but you can probably find details on the Quilter’s Planner blog or on Instagram. I may get one and try to play catch-up, but honestly I can hardly keep up with QALs even when I begin with everyone else!
UPDATE: You can still participate even if you don’t have a planner! It’s free and you can see all the patterns HERE!! That means this girl just might be in the game.
Blossom Heart Quilts 2017 Sampler QAL
If you love to foundation paper piece, this one block a month quilt along is just for you! You can catch all the details HERE. The best part? It’s free!
A Quilting Life QAL
Sherri McConnell is hosting a few awesome quilt alongs this year, each of which look really fun to participate in! You can read about each of them HERE.
The one I’m most interested in is the regular ol’ block of the month. I’m guessing these hexie flowers are a sneak peek of what we might see in the quilt! Photo from Sherri’s blog.
Simple Simon and Co. Modern Quilt Along
This one doesn’t start until the first Wednesday in February so there’s plenty of time to prep. No preview, but each month has a different focus and will be great for expanding your quilting knowledge and skills!
I’m sure there are many more out there. I hope this helps anyone looking for something to jump into! I still can’t decide if I should make my own or hop on a bandwagon. Either way, it’ll be fun!
